Care of Synthetic Wigs.

CARE OF SYNTHETIC WIGS.

Do NOT expose wigs to extreme heat! Heat from cooking with an open oven, steam, blow dryers and curling irons damage the hair fiber.

Generally, washing your wig after wearing 10 – 12 times. 

Synthetic wigs are pre-styled. To style, use these techniques: 

For a curly style, simply take the wig cap from the nape (neck) area and shake for a few seconds. This will set it free. You can use a wire pick to separate sections or tame wild hairs, but it is best not to pull too hard or push away from the natural direction.

For straight styles, gently comb or just run your fingers gently over the hair to smooth stray hairs.  

Your wig can be gently styled by using a wire pick, or your fingertips. Your wig was designed with a basic style, but you can achieve variations through gentle styling. Added height can be achieved by gently lifting with the pick or a wire comb. You will be able to return the wig to the original style simply by shaking as above.

Store hair similar to the way it is to be worn. Use wig stand.  

WASHING YOUR WIG

1. Gently brush the wig with a wig comb.

2. Add one tablespoon of wig shampoo to 1 liter of cool to lukewarm water. Do NOT use hot water as it will damage the fibers and remove body from your wig.

3. Immerse wig for one minute and agitate gently. Do not rub.

4. Rinse the wig gently in cold clear water twice or until thoroughly rinsed.

5. Add one tablespoon of wig conditioner to 1 liter of fresh clean water. Swish and work mixture throughout the wig. Do not rinse. Lay wig on towel and pat to remove excess moisture. Do not squeeze or wring. (At this stage, you can spray conditioning spray very lightly over the wig, spraying 10 – 12 inches from the wig) We recommend you use either the wig conditioner or the conditioning spray. You do not need both.

6. Allow the wig to dry on a towel or on a wig stand.  Whilst it is wet do not stretch it over your Styrofoam head as it may stretch the cap.

7. Do not use a hairdryer. Air dry naturally. Do not allow to dry in direct sunlight. You may gently style the wig with your fingertips.

8. When completely dry you may put it on and use your fingertips or your pick to finish styling.

9. Remember not to use regular shampoo on your wig, as this will cause the hair to oxidize.
