Care of Synthetic Wigs
Synthetic wigs are designed for convenience, style, and low maintenance. Proper care will ensure your wig stays looking natural, fresh, and beautiful for months and extend it's lifespan.
General Tips
- Do NOT expose your wig to extreme heat. Open ovens, steam, blow dryers, and curling irons can damage the synthetic fibers.
- Wash your wig approximately every 10–12 wears, or when it appears dull or has accumulated sweat or styling products.
- Synthetic wigs come pre-styled. Minimal styling is required, but gentle adjustments can be made using your fingers or a wire pick.
- Store your wig on a wig stand to maintain its shape and prevent tangling. Avoid crushing or folding the wig when storing.
Styling Your Wig
Curly Styles: Gently lift the wig from the nape area and shake for a few seconds to refresh curls. Use a wire pick to separate curls or tame stray hairs, but avoid pulling or forcing the fibers.
Straight Styles: Smooth stray hairs with your fingers or a wide-tooth comb. Avoid brushing aggressively as this can cause frizz or damage.
For Modern Heat-Resistant Synthetic Wigs, you may use low-heat styling tools (up to 180°C / 350°F) to slightly curl or straighten your wig, but always test a small section first and ensure you use low heat. If you are unsure whether your wig is heat-resistant, please contact us prior to using any heating products.
Washing Your Wig
- Gently brush your wig with a wig comb to remove tangles.
- Mix 1 tablespoon of wig shampoo in 1 liter of cool to lukewarm water. Avoid hot water as it will damage fibers.
- Submerge the wig for one minute and gently swirl. Do not rub or scrub.
- Rinse thoroughly in cold water until shampoo is removed.
- Add 1 tablespoon of wig conditioner to 1 liter of fresh water. Work it gently through the wig. Do not rinse. Pat dry with a towel to remove excess water.
- Optional: Lightly spray a synthetic wig conditioning spray from 10–12 inches away. Use either the conditioner or spray, not both.
- Allow the wig to air dry naturally on a wig stand or towel. Do not use a hairdryer or direct sunlight.
- Once dry, style gently with your fingers or wire pick. Shake curly wigs lightly to restore volume.
- Do not use regular shampoos or conditioners; they can oxidize and damage the fibers.
Additional Tips
- Avoid sleeping, swimming, or showering with your synthetic wig on.
- Keep the wig away from harsh chemicals, hairsprays not formulated for synthetic wigs, and high-humidity environments.
- Rotate between wigs if possible to extend the life of each one.
