Hair Loss
Hair loss commonly occurs due to chemotherapy, alopecia, or thyroid conditions. The right wig can help you feel more confident and comfortable during treatment.
Wigs can be worn securely even without hair. Special wig caps, wig grips, or adhesive tapes help prevent slipping. If you have new hair growth, avoid double-sided tape.
Choose a style and colour that feels right for you — whether natural or something new. Monofilament wigs are often more comfortable for sensitive scalps.
Chemotherapy & Hair Loss:
Hair loss usually begins 7–21 days after treatment starts. Regrowth typically begins after treatment ends and may take 6–12 months, sometimes with temporary changes in texture or colour.
Cancer & Chemotherapy
Chemotherapy is a treatment that uses powerful medications — given intravenously or orally — to destroy cancer cells. Because these medicines target fast-growing cells, they can also affect healthy fast-growing cells like hair follicles, which often leads to hair loss.
Not all chemotherapy causes complete hair loss. The extent depends on the specific medication, dosage, and individual response. Hair loss typically begins 1–3 weeks after treatment starts.
In some cases, patients may be offered scalp cooling therapy, which can help reduce hair loss during certain types of chemotherapy.
Hair usually begins to regrow after treatment ends. Full regrowth may take 6–12 months, and the new hair may temporarily grow back with a different texture or colour. These changes are often temporary.
